Guneku Village: Fon Fomuki offers Christmas Package To Persons With Special Abilities..

By Raymond Dingana.
Persons living with Special Abilities and their friends in Mbengwi, Momo Division of the North West Region of Cameroon have received financial assistance to enable them celebrate Christmas. The financial package worth Hundreds of Thousands of France CFA is a special gift from the Fon of Guneku village, HRH, Dr. Fon Fomuki Walters.
Representing the Fon at the ceremony to hand over the financial package to the beneficiaries who came from different religious background, at the Guneku Fon’s Palace Saturday December 21, 2019, the Chairman of the Guneku Village Traditional Council, Mr. Ndingwan Primus said, HRH, Fon Fomuki Walters came up with the initiative after he slept one night and something reflected in his mind on the challenges faced by person with special abilities caused by the Anglophone crisis.
He furthered that, this is the second time the Fon is coming to the aid of people with special abilities. He said the event was taken to the palace this time around so that the beneficiaries can see where he lives and also celebrate Christmas with them. He also indicated that, those who answered present came from different villages in Mbengwi Sub Division in the NWR of Cameroon.

According to the president of the Association of persons with special abilities in Mbengwi, Mr. Agwe Eric Tata, they are facing quite a number of challenges: “The challenges are many. There is that trauma. When there are gun shots, many don’t even know how to run; they are abandoned behind by relatives who are physically able. Some in a bid to hide are instead exposed and you know in this crisis, no one is safe while some lack food to eat. This financial package from the Fon is coming at the right time to put smiles on their faces”.
Meanwhile, the president of the Kobenyang People living with special abilities, Ngong Cecilia Feh who is visually impaired  said, though the package from the Fon is to enable them celebrate Christmas without difficulties; it will also help them enhance their daily activities: “Some of us keep table birds, pigs; we do farming and many others. This package will enhance our activities. I also do farming to feed my family and I sale some too. We thank HRH Fon Dr. Fomuki Walters for being there for us.”
Asked how she go about her activities in the farm given the fact that, she is visually impaired, she said, she has studied the different crops and their shapes and even the grass. She furthered that, whenever she torches the grass, she is able to tell which is needed and which isn’t needed. She cultivate and do the weeding all by herself.
It should be noted that, the current crisis in the two Anglophone Regions of Cameroon has dealt a heavy blow to people with special needs. Many have been killed, many displaced while others have lost the only source of their income.
The ceremony at the Guneku Fon’s Palace was animated by short plays, debate and live musical performances composed by the beneficiaries, exchange of gifts between the donor and the beneficiaries among others.
