February Elections: Tubah To Focus On Development, Not Political Parties

 By  Raymond Dingana.

The CPDM  Section President for Tubah, Professor Peter Abeti says, their focus ahead of the February 9 elections is local development , the development of Tubah in particular for the Municipal election and the Bafut /Tubah Constituency for the legislative election and not political parties. Prof. Abeti was speaking recently in a press conference that brought together Mayor Tanjong Martin of  Tubah Council and the parliamentary aspirant for the Legislative elections for Bafut/Tubah constituency Mr.Agho Oliver at up station in Bamenda.
What I want to stress is that, as we are going in for these elections, we are not focusing on political parties, we are focusing on local development, which is the development of Tubah in particular and we have a joined constituency with Bafut. They is no need for any opposition in Tubah because of what use is it for us in Tubah to be fighting each other because of political parties rather than coming together to develop our sub division. That way, all our efforts are concentrated on development projects and how they should be carried out rather than quarreling for nothing because of party issues”
According to mayor Tanjong of Tubah council who is now CPDM list leader in Tubah for the Municipal election, he was the one who unseated the CPDM from the Tubah council in 1996 and since then,it has not been easy between the SDF leadership and the CPDM in Tubah. He said, along the line, they discovered that, there was no use fighting political wars in the same community and that it is good to have just one objective which is making life better for the population.
He added that, he has no boundary between the Social Democratic Front, SDF and the Cameroon Peoples Demcratic Movement, CPDM and that, all he wanted was to see productive people and that, he has not declined from any political party and has not formed any political party.
Asked what plans he has for those in the bushes fighting against the state, mayor Tanjong said, immediately after elections, he will bring  those in the bushes to reason so they don’t get killed in the bushes. He furthered that, he had ones awarded a contract to those he called Amba boys in Babanki which they executed. He said he will make them understand that, instead of destroying bridges and other properties, they should be the ones constructing them.
Quizzed on what plans the Parliamentary aspirant for Bafut Tubah constituency Mr.Agho Oliver has for those whose homes have been razed and are living in bushes, the answer was that, during the Major National Dialogue that took place in Yaounde, there was a commission in charged of reconstruction . Agho Oliver said, if elected, his job will be to get the families that have suffered and their properties evaluated and that, reconstruction will be a national issue.
Worthy of note is the fact that, about 27 or more councilors on the list in Tubah are former SDF militants. According to Mayor  Tanjong,  CPDM councilors who may have been eyeing the positions will not be a problem because when they were constituting the list, many did not show up perhaps because of fear and that there were also no barriers.
