Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a pervasive and global violation of huma n rights where this crime is often hidden because of the disgrace, dishonour, and shame perpetrated upon the victim. Women remain silent and decide not to report this crime because the perpetrator is often their domestic partner. Many women and girls who are raped are forced to leave home, because of the perceived shame for their families. Displaced, without support networks and with no access to protection or livelihoods, many are forced into prostitution. Newly Matriculated Students Of UBa Christened, The “Batch Of Determination”.

By Raymond Dingana. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda has christened the 2019 batch of freshmen admitted in to the University of Bamenda as the “ Batch of Determination”. Professor Theresia NKUO Akenji made the declaration last Thursday November 21, 2019 in the campus Restaurant of the university in Bambili during the Matriculation and Oath taking ceremony of some 4,382 newly admitted students into the institution. The choice of this year’s batch naming Prof. NKUO said was inspired by the fact that, despite the all odds, the students are bent on acquiring knowledge: “In spite of what is happening, the children are determined to go to school, they are determined to learn, acquire knowledge and make their tomorrow a better tomorrow, so I see determination and that’s why we christened them the batch of Determination”. Shock and consternation is still rocking Bambili following the shooting to death of a Level Five Biology student of  the Higher Teacher Training Collage [HTTC]  Bambili last Saturday November 09, 2019.Reports say, on the night of Saturday breaking Sunday 10 November 2019, a group of armed men dressed in civilian attire s  stormed  a  student residential  area and  abducted Twelve students. As they were leading the students to an unknown destination, one of them, level Five Biology student of  HTTC was shot and killed. Though the circumstances surrounding his death remains a mystery, it is alleged he tried running away from his abductors but luck was not on his side.  His  Lifeless body was only found Sunday morning with bullet wounds while the whereabouts of the other students remains a mystery. In a Press Release dated 11/11’2019, the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam while condemning in very strong terms what he described as an Unacceptable Barbaric Act

Drivers of Hearses or Funeral Vans meant for the conveying of mortal remains to their final destinations last Saturday November 09, 2019, refused conveying the mortal remains of some of the victims of the GOUACHE LANDSLIDE in the West Region of Cameroon. Sources on the ground indicated to DrayInfos that, the drivers were protesting against the nonpayment of their complete fee of One Hundred Thousand FCFA after receiving an advanced payment of Fifty Thousand FCFA. Talking to DrayInfos , an eye witnesses indicated that, the contract to convey the corpses was secured by a native of the West Region who then contracted the Hearses or Funeral Van Services. It was agreed that, the fee was to be One Hundred Thousand FCFA each and that advanced payments of Fifty Thousand Francs was to be paid and the money completed only after the services must have been rendered. NW Security Meeting: Commercial Bikers Warned Against Carrying More Than One At A Time.

By Raymond Dingana. Commercial bike riders in Bamenda and the North West Region of Cameroon have been warned against carrying more than one person at a time. The warning came from Territorial Administration Minister, Atanga Nji Paul during a Security Evaluation Meeting that took place at the NW Governor’s office, Thursday November 07, 2019: “ A motor cycle has to carry just one passenger. A motor cycle cannot carry four people and most of the time, when they carry four people; you have two kidnapped people who are on the bike ” . Minister Atanga Nji Paul said.  During the security evaluation meeting, commercial bike riders in the NWR also came under fire from Minister Atanga Nji Paul who says they have been implicated in many atrocities in the Region. He says bike riders have masterminded kidnappings and have committed many other atrocities inviting them to adhere to instructions by government to comply with the minimum requirements for them to exercise their profession. The Coach of Yong Sport Academy, Coach Nkabyuo Martin has congratulated PWD Bamenda after bowing to the team by one goal to nothing in a highly contested match, Wednesday November 06, 2019. The Local Darby, first of its kind as far as the two teams from the same region are concerned that was played at the Yong Sport Training Centre at Ntenefor,Mile six Nkwen Bamenda, recorded the lone goal of the match at the 48"minutes of play. It was a brilliant free kick by Ade Mienolf at the 48" minutes of play that put PWD of Bamenda ahead.
