Bamenda Bombing: Nigerians Suffer Huge losses, Union President Appeals For Help

By Raymond Dingana The Nigerian union President in Bamenda, Prince Otobong Ituen has appealed to both the presidents of Cameroon and Nigeria to come to the aid of victims of what is now known as Women’s Day bomb attack in Bamenda, chief town of the NWR of Cameroon. He was speaking to DrayInfos Tuesday March 10, 2020 at the secretariat of the Nigerian union in Bamenda. According to Prince Otobong, the victims lost all what they have worked for more than 20years saying the governments of Cameroon and Nigeria should consider given them a helping hand. “I want to appeal to the country of Cameroon and Nigeria to deem it necessary to consider assisting these victims of the fire outbreak triggered by the bomb blast. All what they have worked for, for many years were destroyed. They have taken loans from the banks, and if care is not taken, they can even commit suicide. Clamp Down On Unregistered Commercial Bikers Announced.

By Raymond Dingana Tougher days lie ahead of commercial biker riders who after enjoying a Ten Months period of grace for them to abide by the rules and regulations governing their sector, have still not been able to do so. During a security meeting   that took place at the NW Governor's office, chaired by Territorial Administration Minister,  it was disclosed that, from Tuesday March 17, 2020, commercial bikers still to   undergo the registration process will not be allow to embark on their day to day activities in Bamenda. “   As from Tuesday March 17, 2020, those whose bikes have not been identified and registered will not be allowed to exercise their duties as transporters. We gave them six months to start the identification process, the syndicates pleaded that we give them nine months which was given. Women’s Day Bomb Explosion In Bamenda: One Dead, Eight Wounded, Shops Razed.

By Raymond Dingana Before the Current socio political crisis in the two English Speaking Regions of Cameroon degenerated in to a bloody war, women’s day celebrations were done in pump and pageantry with women in the informal sector added more color to the event. From 2017 till present date, women’s day celebrated every March third has been a shadow of its former self and this has been blamed on the current socio political crisis which has given birth to an unprecedented level of insecurity. On Sunday March 8 th , 2020, a day that saw women observing a minute of silence in honor of women who have died as a result of the socio political crisis, women who answered present at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand to partake in the 35 th edition of the International Day of the Woman came under attack when an explosive device said to be a locally made explosive went off few meters away from the grandstand from Santa park causing panic as many could be seen running helter-skelter.

Bamenda City Mayor To Reconcile Population For Peace To Return

Six Wounded As Campaign Caravan Comes Under Attack In Momo.

Six persons have been wounded in a convoy that was heading to Mbengwi, Head Quarters of Momo Division in the NWR of Cameroon following an attack by suspected Pro independence fighters, Saturday February 01, 2020. Report from sources on the ground indicate that, the first attacked was at Nchualam while the second took place around Ngyen-Mbo. The convoy was that of the Minister Delegate In charge of the Supreme State Audit, Mbah Acha Rose heading to the Momo Divisional Head Quarter –Mbengwi to launch CPDM campaigns ahead of the February 9 elections. Sources in the convoy recounted to the DrayInfos that, one person was shot on the arm, another on the head, and another on the leg. The others sustained just minor wounds from the den guns some of the attackers used. February Elections: Tubah To Focus On Development, Not Political Parties

The CPDM  Section President for Tubah, Professor Peter Abeti says, their focus ahead of the February 9 elections is local development , the development of Tubah in particular for the Municipal election and the Bafut /Tubah Constituency for the legislative election and not political parties. Aghem Women Defend Selves Against Hausa/Fulani Attacks.

By Raymond Dingana. “   Enough is enough, we are not afraid of death any more, we will defend ourselves, we are getting killed for nothing, what is our crime, who told you that you own Wum, Wum is for all of us”   .  These were some of the things the Ahem women were saying when they went out recently in Wum accusing some members of the Fulani/Hausa communities for killing their relatives and burning down their houses. Reports from Wum say, the women went out in their numbers recently to confront the armed Fulani and Hausa youths whom they say are backed by the Cameroon military.
