Around 500 vulnerable families in Bamenda have received humanitarian aid, including rice and blankets, delivered by Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji on behalf of the presidential couple. This event took place on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the office of the Senior Divisional Officer of Mezam.
Speaking to the crowd, Minister Atanga Nji stated,
"The presidential couple wants you to spread the message of solidarity in Bamenda. That’s why the vulnerable families have received rice and blankets."
In addition to the aid, Minister Atanga Nji also announced that commercial motorbike riders in Bamenda would receive free fuel for one month, with all costs covered by the Head of State and his wife. He expressed gratitude to the bike riders for their responsible behavior and for rejecting "ghost towns" in the region.
"You have a free package from President Paul Biya, free fuel for one month," he said. He also urged the riders, "Don’t associate yourself with anything related to ghost towns; it goes against our values."
The vulnerable families and bike riders were thankful, noting that this support would help lower their daily expenses and improve their lives. Many residents feel that this initiative is already bringing hope and relief to households, especially with the positive impact of free fuel on transport costs and community welfare.
After the aid distribution, Minister Atanga Nji held a security meeting in Bamenda, urging parents to encourage their children who have taken up arms against the state to surrender and join the Bamenda Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) program.
