Issa Tchiroma Seeks Forgiveness In Bamenda, Vows To Address Anglophone Crisis By Examining Root Causes

Issa Tchiroma Bakari In Bamenda For Campaigns

By Raymond Dingana

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, some major streets of Bamenda were brought to a standstill when the campaign caravan of Presidential Candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakari of the Cameroon National Salvation Front (FSNC) arrived.

The caravan attracted thousands of people from Santa to the city of Bamenda, with a large crowd joining at City Chemist Roundabout also known as Liberty Square. The crowd made it impossible for vehicles and bikes to move freely, as they were eager to hear from Tchiroma.

At Liberty Square, Tchiroma stated that it was never his intention to hurt the people of the North West and South West Regions when the Anglophone crisis went deadly. He acknowledged that he made a hurtful statement as a minister, claiming there was no Anglophone problem, and said he was just following orders from the Prime Minister and Head of State.

“Once again, I ask for your forgiveness. I apologize,”

 Tchiroma said. He added,

“We offend the Lord every day, but when we pray, we ask for forgiveness, and he forgives us. So please forgive me because I wronged you and I have apologised.”

He asked the crowd three times,

“Do you accept my apology?”

 Each time they responded loudly,

 “Yes.”

Tchiroma concluded this topic by expressing,

 “Today I am free.”

He promised prosperity for the North West Region and said it would regain its status as a leading region in Cameroon.

Tchiroma Promises to Resolve the Anglophone Crisis by Releasing Political Prisoners

The Anglophone crisis has persisted for nearly nine years as of October 4, 2025, and remains unsolved by the current government. Tchiroma, who was the Communication Minister when the crisis began, assured the people of Bamenda that resolving the crisis would be a top priority.

“My first act in office will be to liberate all political prisoners and grant them amnesty. We need to examine the root causes of the crisis to address it effectively,”

 he stated.

He promised dialogue among everyone, including secessionists and federalists, to discuss and find a way forward together.

Tchiroma Appeals to the Public to Help Save Cameroon

Tchiroma urged the people of the North West Region to make the right choice on October 12.

“Do you want to save this nation?”

he asked, to which the crowd replied with a resounding

 “Yes.”

He asserted,

“Only one person can change this nation with the will of the people, and that person is Issa Tchiroma Bakari.”

He warned voters to stay vigilant after voting to protect their ballots.

“Your presence will deter cheating and ensure fair results,”

 he said.

Tchiroma Say They Won't  Fabricated Election Results

Tchiroma addressed concerns about electoral fraud, which opposition parties in Cameroon frequently raise.

“We will never accept results that do not come from the ballot box. The only acceptable results are those from ballots, not fabricated ones,”

he warned.

He encouraged everyone to collect their voter cards and participate in the political process.

Tchiroma's Message of Hope to Diaspora Cameroonians

Tchiroma also promised to address the issue of dual nationality, which has been a contentious topic in Cameroon.

“I have promised dual nationality to Cameroonians in the diaspora. They will be free to return and invest in our country, which needs them,”

he said.

He assured that through consultation and dialogue, he would provide support for their investments and ensure they feel welcomed in Cameroon.

Tchiroma expressed confidence that the North West Region would vote for him, as they would not support someone who has shown incompetence.
