NUDP National Chairman, Bello Bouba Maigari In Bamenda By Raymond Dingana  The national chairman of the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP), Bello Bouba Maigari, has expressed regret over the suffering of the population in the North West Region (NWR). This was made during his visit to Bamenda on Saturday, September 6th 2025. He said time to open a new chapter for the region has come. "Your voices have not been heard. The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, when the child and three others were playing in the river; however, other sources suggest they were fishing. Eyewitnesses alleged that just as they were about to leave, the child was captivated by the size of a fish he saw. In an attempt to catch it, he found himself in a part of the river from which he could not easily escape. His friends waited for him, but when he did not return, they raised the alarm. Neighbors gathered and were able to retrieve the body, which was then taken to a health facility on a motorbike as explained by a voice in a video shared on Abakwa FM Radio Pidgin News WhatsApp group . Arrested Wildlife Traffickers By Raymond Dingana  Wild life traffickers operating in some African countries are having sleepless nights ever since a major crackdown on their activities intensified. 34 wildlife traffickers were arrested across five African countries during the first half of this year. The traffickers were arrested in Congo, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Togo and Cameroon during crackdown operations carried out under the framework of the government’s collaboration with the EAGLE network that assists wildlife officials in the application of the wildlife law in these countries.They were arrested while trafficking in parts of protected wildlife species including leopard skins, elephant tusks, and also live hyenas.  16 leopard skins were seized during operations carried out in Ivory Coast, Congo and Senegal with at least 22 traffickers arrested.   Hon Njingum Musa At The Sports Jamboree In Ndop By Raymond Dingana  On August 24, 2025, the Ndop Multipurpose Play Ground was a scene of attraction as the population answered present for the D-day of the Bamunka Peace and Unity Tournament. Organized by Hon. Dr. Njingum Musa, this event was aimed at bringing the population together all in a bid to forster the development of the area. Waka Waka 4 Peace By Anne-Valien Berinyuy  On July 31, 2025, the streets of Up Station in Bamenda came alive with songs, chants, and hope as women from all backgrounds came together for a peace march called “Waka Waka 4 Peace.” The walk started at Mile 1 Junction, Up Station, Bamenda I Municipality and ended at the Governor’s Office. It was organized by the North West Chapter of the National Convention for Peace to celebrate Pan African Women’s Day. This year’s walk marked two important events, the 63rd Pan African Women’s Day and the 4th edition of the National Peace Convention, first held in Yaoundé in 2021. The women carried placards with peaceful messages, sang songs of unity, and reminded everyone about the vital role women play in promoting peace, especially in conflict-affected areas like the North West region.
