Clashes Between Soldiers And Armed Civilians Empties Bamendankwe

By Raymond Dingana.

Reports from Bamendankwe, a village in Bamenda I sub division of the North West Region  of Cameroon say, the village is deserted following deadly clashes between security forces and suspected Pro Independence fighters. Several persons have been killed in the clashes which have also caused many to flee with some taking refuge in bushes while others have taken refuge in neighboring communities. According to sources from Bamendankwe village, many villagers have fled following last Saturday’s attacks that led to the death of at least two unarmed civilians . It’s also reported that access into the village was also rendered  difficult . DrayInfos also gathered on the ground that, the Fon of Bamendankwe was abducted by gun carrying men dressed in civilian attires. He was later released but his where about and present condition has not been revealed to DrayInfos .According to Forsuh, a Native of Bamendankwe and an eye witness to some of the recent  happenings in the village, last Saturday recorded one of the most bloodiest days in the village:
“Last Saturday July 27,2019 was one of the bloodiest days in Bamendankwe village. Men dressed in military attires stormed the village and were shooting indiscriminately. They came at a time when villagers were relaxing at a popular spot known as MAKENENE, just around the Fon’s palace. The sound of the gun pushed many running for safety. I saw old women who were selling groundnuts running for their dear lifes. Some could not even run while others were trampled upon by those who had the energy to bring down any obstacle on their way. The men in military attires also destroyed doors removing those who took refuge in their homes given them snake beatings and taking many away. Bikes were removed and set ablaze, valuables looted, and food stuffs destroyed. When they left, we came out and saw two corpses of those who were having fun at the MAKENENE areaHe ended.
Another native of Bamendankwe village who preferred to go by the name Silvia told the DrayInfos that, last Saturday’s incident was just one of the numerous atrocities the people of Bamendankwe have suffered in recent times in the hands of those dressed in military attires:
“The population have been suffering in the village ever since news started circulating that Pro Independence fighters have created camps in the village. The problem here is that, we don’t see the men in military attires  when the boys are around; they only come when they had left and start beating innocent people and taking some away calling them “Amba. Many of those taken away were forced to pay huge sums before regaining their freedom.  Just of recent, an old man and his son were beheaded by men dressed in military attires. The men came when the mother of the house was preparing corn fufu. They pulled the old man and his son away only for their headless bodies to be discovered days later. An old woman also got hit on the head and her head has increase in size, she is in a bad shape as we speak.
It should be noted that, ever since what is now known as the Anglophone crises degenerated into a deadly armed conflict which is now known to have taken away thousands of lives and enormous material damage, thousands displaced and are in dire need of basic needs in Bamenda, Bamendakwe village in Bamenda I Sub Division of the North West Region of Cameroon has been enjoying some calm until things went bad just of recent. The latest happenings in Bamenda I sub division is a surprise to many given that the sub division is the seat of the administration and the head quarters of the Cameroon military in the North West Region of Cameroon.
