Bamenda: Women Protest Against Kumba Killings, But D.O. Calls Them Pretenders

  By Raymond Dingana Women drawn from different walks of life have taken to the streets of Bamenda denouncing the killing of students at the Mother Francisca International Bilingual Academy in Kumba, Tuesday October 27,2020 . They carried  placards bearing  messages like, ''Education is a must for our children,'' ''Education is not negotiable,'' ''End the war in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon,'' ''We need peace'' among others, the women accompanied by their male counterparts marched through the major streets of Bamenda and made a stop at the office of Mr. Nicolas Nkongho Manchang, Divisional Officer, D.O. for Bamenda II Subdivision. The D.O.'s remarks were  not well received by the women. The recent case is what many have described as a macabre act on children whom to them were only out to gain education for a better future. Bamenda: Many wounded as Gendarmerie Truck Destroys Several Vehicles.

This follows a head on collision of a gendarmerie truck and several taxis and other vehicles at mobile Nkwen, Tuesday night. The mobile Nkwen neighborhood was the scene of anger and attraction following an incident that saw a truck belonging to the national gendarmerie destroying several vehicles at about 7pm, Tuesday October 20 th , 2020. The truck that left Finance junction and was heading towards mobile Nkwen reportedly left its own side of the road before hitting the vehicles. After hitting the cars, the soldiers descended from the truck and started punching people causing many other vehicles to be hitting others in the course of trying to escape the wrath of the Gendarmes. Gerard Ngala has said it is not about Government nor Separatists talking about sending childeren to school but that, parents have taken the bull by the horne. Hon. Ngala made the declaration recently on national the state broadcaster, CRTV shortly after stagging a mega rally in Nkambe that has amplified the back to school campaign in his native Donga Mantung and beyond. Insecurity: Night Life Shrinks As beer Parlours Become Targets.

  By Raymond Dingana Night life around the mobile  neighbourhood, a popular vicinity in Nkwen Bamenda, highly concentrated with drinking parlours have seen night life activities greatly reduced recently. Reports say; many fear going out to catch fun now and take a drink after two explosive devices went off in two different bars Tuesday;06 October at about 8pm  .One other  was discovered in another bar still in Nkwen on Thursday 08 October 2020. The explosion left customers affected with wounds and some have been hospitalized though other sources say, no one was wounded and that, it would appear the perpetrators were just firing a warning shot. According to Chia Walters, a client to one of the bars that was targeted on  Tuesday, going out to have fun will have to wait for a while. "Going out these days especially at night is risky and has to wait after an explosion occurred in my favourite drinking spot. I was there when it went off and i felt like the world was coming to an end.

  By Raymond Dingana A three-day workshop organized by # Defyhatenow in partnership with Africa Knowledge and Policy Center -AKPC under the theme: Catalysing Media for Peace and Justice in Cameroon has come to end. The capacity building was focused on training journalists on Conflict Sensitive Reporting. The over twenty media practitioners from the North West Region of Cameroon that answered present in Bafoussam, from the 08-10 October 2020 were made to understand that, their role in Peace Building cannot be ignored. Speaking at the Epic Center , Saturday October 03, 2020 during an event to hand over didactic material to hundreds of children in the school going age bracket, the mayor said, owners of private schools cannot be increasing school fees when the economy of the area is witnessing a downtrend warning them that, their schools may be shut down: “ There was a meeting to that effect because authorities cannot be increasing school fees when people are dying, the economy is on the downtrend and school authorities are increasing fees. Bamenda Natural Disaster: Move Out Or Move To Your Graves: City Mayor Tells Population.

  By Raymond Dingana Inhabitants of Sisia I Nkwen, Bamenda  have expressed shock over the pronouncement of the City Mayor asking them to either move out of the risk zones in that neighborhood within 24hours or stay there and move to their graves. The city mayor made the declaration after a landslide occurred leaving an eight year old dead last Tuesday September 29, 2020 at about 7PM.
