HAACAM Inaugurates Vocational Training Lab For Women Empowerment

Hope Alive Association Cameroon, HAACAM a non governmental organization situated at the Mile 3 neighborhood in Nkwen Bamenda has Innugurated a Vocational Training Lab to impact women and girls with skills on hair dressing, sewing, just to name but these.

The Inauguration ceremony took place Saturday 9 July 2022. The Director of HAACAM explained that the Lab was launched following unsuccessful and clandestine economic empowerment which has not been successful and effectively enough which has not been able to get women out of Gender Based Voilence, GBV.

We discovered that economic empowerment is a major problem because women are not able to afford a livelihood and that exposes them to a lot of social vices and GBV. This is an initiative to effectively transfer skills to women and girls following mechanisms that we can effectively empower them so that they can better their lives by teaching them how to fish and not only giving them fish, Laison said
Laison further pointed out that HAACAM believes in sustainable and impact and that due the crisis in the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon, there is a lot of humanitarian assistance to victims without any visible impact,

This is explains why we came up with the idea of creating a vocational lab as a change so that we can be able to follow up and make sure that our activities can be traced, we monitor and be able to evaluate the impact we are creating in the lives of women and girls, she stated.
She further disclosed that Psychosocial support will also be offered at the center because the issue here is not only economic empowerment,
These women are going through trauma, depression and other forms of distress that need to be handled, Laison Sylvie.
The representative of the Divisional Officer for Bamenda III said her office is ready to support HAACAM so that the targeted group can benefit from the services they are offering.

Talking to Drayinfos, Peter Chi, a school principal and proprietor of Self Reliant Bilingual Nursary and Primary School NPS and the Foundation of the Education of the Rural Child, FERUC NPS and Comprehensive collage said they decided to partner with HAACAM because it is a not for profit organization.
I am very happy they are not a profit making institution, their focus is the underprivileged and above all, they have singled out themselves as that organisation which is not out to fool people with few pieces of fishes but to teach them how to fish, he explained

Hope Alive Association Cameroon it should be noted was founded in 2016 with main focus on Sextual and Reproductive Health Rights, Education, Social support to persons living with HIV/AIDS, Child Protection and Social Justice among others.
