Ntambag Brothers, OTFA Facilitate Free Diabetes Screening For Elderly, PWDs

Persons leaving with disabilities,(PWDs), the elderly amongst others have benefited from a free blood screening for Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) like High Blood Pressure and Diabetes .

The health crusade which targated the population of Old Town-Bamenda and it's environs was made possible by Ntambag Brothers CIG and  Old Town For American (OTFA), a group of former residents of Old Town Bamenda now in the United States of America.

Saturday March 3,2023 during the free sensitization and blood screening exercise that took place the Seven Doors neighborhood in Old Town Bamenda, Dr.Hamza drilled the patients on how to live with the health situation.

We ededucate the patients on what diabetes is all about, how it can be checked at home, and what and how they should eat. We adviced them to eat more of fruits and and vegetables and also engage in physical activies, said Dr.Hamza.

Those with severe cases were distributed glucometer machines to check their sugar levels at home. 

Medical Kits To Test And Control Diabetes And Hypertension 

This was after they had been trained on how to use them.

The patients received the  machines with ecstasy and expressed her joy in the following words:

I am a patient of diabetes for 10 years now and I have never had the opportunity to own a machine like this. I am greatful to Ntambag Brothers and OTFA for coming to our aid,

Yusifu Abdulai Baturi is another patient who said the health sensitization campaign was of great help to him, 

I have benefited from a free blood screening machine for diabetes and hypertension and another machine to check and control my blood sugar level at home. I really appreciate them for this gesture.

According to the president of Ntambag Brothers, Polycarp Ndimbu, The health crusade was triggered by the fact that many have died from diabetes and hypertension which could have been prevented,

People die from these illnesses without knowing that their situation could have been reversed if they were aware of their status. We are here to help them know their health conditions so that they can consult the hospitals more frequently in order to be healthy because health is wealth.

Ntambag  Brothers is a Grass Root based Organization in Old Town Bamenda Cameroon. 

The objective of the group is to carter for underprivileged children in primary school, ensure that hygiene and Sanitation are taken seriously,sensitize the public about HIV/AIDS, provide support to children who are  orphans because of the virus,just to name but these.

Road Accident Leaves Two Persons Dead Along Bamenda-Bambili Stretch

Chattered Vehicles As A Result Of Accident  By Raymond Dingana Township taxi drivers in Bamenda are still in shock following the death of one of theirs who died alongside his passenger at the Mile 6 neighborhood in Nkwen, on the Bamenda-Bambili road, Friday March 15, 2024. The accident that didn't only take away lives but caused enormous damages on the two vehicles involved has been attributed to over speeding. "The black private car was on top speed when it suddenly found itself on the other said of the road colliding with the taxi. The occupants of the private owned vehicle fled the scene after the accident. The vehicle was coming from the Mile 6 direction while the taxi was heading towards Bamenda, " explained a witness. The passenger whose only name drayinfos got as Tigwe died on the spot, while the driver of the Starlet vehicle died later at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda.   Cross Section Of Protesting Crowd At Up Station  By Raymond Dingana The early hours of Thursday April 4,2024 was a tensed one at the Bamenda I council area following the stabbing to death of the young man identified as Junior Awazi popularly known as BJ by a uniform officer in civilian attire. The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday breaking Thursday April 4 in a beer parlor at Up Station, Bamenda I Council area. The population was out in the streets expressing their grievances demanding justice for the slain young man. " It all started when the uniform officer in civilian attire wounded a girl's hand after she rejected his love advances.
