The unveiling of the Cambridge International Education plaque took place at St. Mary's International College in Mudeka, Tiko, on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The ceremony was attended by important guests, including the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga; the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, HE Matt Woods; the founder of SMIC, Mr. Paul Atang; and local leaders.
At the event, Mr. Atang thanked the first students for choosing SMIC and expressed gratitude to the British High Commissioner for helping students get visas for a summer camp in Britain. He praised the Minister for her support of the college and highlighted the importance of partnerships between Cameroon and the United Kingdom.
H.E. Matt Woods said,
“It’s amazing to be here. Congratulations to the founder for his vision and dedication to education in Cameroon. The partnerships between Cameroon and the UK, and between the Cameroon system and the Cambridge system, are vital. This initiative connects people from both countries and enriches our students.”

Professor Nalova Lyonga spoke to the press, praising St. Mary's for its commitment to education and developing future leaders. She said,
“We’re happy that the founder is aiming for the highest standards. Digitalization is key to improving education in Cameroon, and we will closely monitor this.”
Mr. Atang emphasized the positive impact of the partnership with Cambridge International School. He noted that teacher certification has improved the learning environment.
“Before the unveiling, we saw improvements in teaching and learning. This will enhance the school's reputation and benefit students and parents,”
he said.
He also explained the dual curriculum at SMIC, which combines the Cambridge program with the national curriculum.
“We will take the best from both programs to help our students succeed,”
he affirmed.
