Cameroon Media Landscape: Municipal Updates Goes Daily

By Dingana Raymond The desire by Cameroonians especially those of English speaking expression to see another newspaper goes daily in Cameroon has been taken care of. Municipal Updates, a paper that first hit the stands in 2015 becomes a daily this Monday January 31, 2022. The newspaper which has been informing the communities on  municipal issues has also grown to a famous newspaper in Cameroon. Going daily means the newspaper is stepping us its game. Since its first publication, Municipal Updates has gone forward to publish 195 editions though suffering a window period that saw the publisher, Cham Victor Bama go back to school to up his know-how in Journalism. Municipal Updates returned to the stands in 2019 as a biweekly and on Monday January 31, it will become just the second English Language Daily in Cameroon. To ensure that this venture doesn't hit the rocks, the Publisher has set up an ultramodern printing press with state-of-the-art infrastructure to house both the printing

Grouped in two working clusters on a Focus Group Discussion on Peace, Negotiation/Mediation and Barriers/Challenges Women face in effectively engaging in Peace-building processes in Cameroon, the women sat and followed the deliberations with undivided attention. They were eager to participate and that was exactly what they did. By Raymond Dingana The Southwest, Northwest Women's Task Force(SNWOT) now has a new team to pilot its affairs in its quest to see peace bounce back in the two restive regions of Cameroon.  The new exco with Sarah-Derval Ephosi Lifanda at the helm was voted in to office during an Elective General Assembly of the Task Force that held in Douala recently. She replaces Sally Mboumein who occupied the offi ce for two years. SNWOT's mission has been to call for dialogue, cease fire and to ensure that women and girls are safe in the crisis hit Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon. By Dingana Raymond The Bamenda City Council Bus Shuttles that were brought in to feel the transportation vacuum created by the restriction on the movement of motor bikes have not been circulating since November 13,2021. Though they could not extend their assistance to areas considered hostile, users testified that the services were positive but for women who decried sexual harassments from the police officers that accompanied them. Many have questioned why the vehicles that served the population for free by transportating them to their various destinations suddenly disappeared from the streets. There is a decrease of about three hundred and eighty nine million FCFA representing a percentage of 8.4℅. This was made known Tuesday December 21,2021 during the City Council's budgetary session to adopt the 2022 budget.
