Participants At The Workshop In Bafoussam By Anne-Valien Berinyuy  A 2-day-workshop to train journalists who are all members of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) held in Bafoussam on June 12 and 13,2025. Organized by the National office of CAMASEJ, with support from Open Society Foundations, the capacity building workshop also saw the unveiling of a security handbook for journalists especially those operating in crisis battered North West and South West regions of the country. The handbook encompasses guidelines for both online and offline safety, offering practical tips on preparation before covering a story and protocols to follow during coverage. Hundreds Of Jobs To Be Created As PM Dion Ngute Inaugurates Cement,Clinker Plant In Figuil-Garoua

  By Raymond Dingana  Young people in the North Region of Cameroon are poised to secure employment following the inauguration of an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art cement and clinker producing plant in Figuil-Garoua. This CFA 60 billion facility, operated by Cimencam, is expected to generate numerous job opportunities, potentially employing close to 1,000 young Cameroonians. The Head of State's representative, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, officially commissioned the plant on June 12, 2025. Beyond job creation, the plant aims to increase cement production to 500,000 tons annually. Compiled By Raymond Dingana  Tragic Shootings in Bamenda The Anglophone crisis continues to claim lives in the North-West Region of Cameroon, with young people bearing the brunt of the violence. On Thursday, June 5, 2025, Ateh Amanda, a young woman, and Brandon, a commercial motorcycle rider, were struck by stray bullets in the Cow Street neighborhood of Nkwen, Bamenda III Municipality.Reports indicate that there may have been a third victim. Amanda was returning home when gunmen, suspected kidnappers, engaged security forces after abducting a trader from the Nkwen Market. In the ensuing chaos, the gunmen opened fire. Witnesses say there was a response from the government forces. At the end of the day, Amanda and Brandon were hit. They were rushed to a health facility but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. This explains why calls have emerged from various sectors of society, urging community members to dismantle these barriers affecting clubfoot treatment, particularly in the North West Region. What is Clubfoot? Clubfoot is a condition where a baby's foot is twisted out of shape or position, causing it to point downward and inward. The front of the foot turns in and down, while the sole may face backward. This common congenital birth defect can be effectively treated, especially when addressed early. The election took place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the conference room of the North West Branch office of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission. Che Wachong’s list was unopposed during the Elective General Assembly, reflecting the trust members have in her leadership. She makes history as the first female journalist to lead the trade union.
