Young people in the North Region of Cameroon are poised to secure employment following the inauguration of an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art cement and clinker producing plant in Figuil-Garoua. This CFA 60 billion facility, operated by Cimencam, is expected to generate numerous job opportunities, potentially employing close to 1,000 young Cameroonians.
The Head of State's representative, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, officially commissioned the plant on June 12, 2025. Beyond job creation, the plant aims to increase cement production to 500,000 tons annually.

He further noted that this facility, along with others in development, symbolizes the fruitful relationship between President Paul Biya and the people of the North.
"This modern facility is just one of the many benefits the North has received from its relationship with President Paul Biya. We also think of the Garoua Regional Hospital, the upcoming rehabilitation of the Ngoundere-Garoua road, and various other infrastructure projects in the North Region."
The factory's Director General, Xavier Le Grand, expressed confidence in the increase in cement production.
"This factory will boost the country’s production capacity to 500,000 tons of cement annually, supplying all the Northern regions and even exporting to Chad."
Market Expansion
Cimencam has added identical MVR mills for raw material and cement grinding at the plant, which will expand the current cement capacity from 0.15 million tons. The facility aims to meet the needs of the three northern regions of Cameroon and neighboring countries like Chad and the Central African Republic.
