Fon Kedze Christopher Ning, 3rd Class Fon of Gheidze village in Wum Sub Division, Menchum Division, Northwest Region of Cameroon, has passed away. He journeyed to the world beyond on Wednesday, June 4, in Buea after a prolonged illness. Given the deplorable state of the Bamenda-Wum road, many are left wondering how the traditional authority will be transported to his final resting place, if he hasn't already been taken there.

Passengers Narrowly Escape Death in Binka-Donga Mantung Division

Three passengers narrowly escaped death on Wednesday, June 4, when their vehicle overturned and fell into a ditch in Binka, a village in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division. The accident has been attributed to the poor condition of the road. The passengers sustained minor 

 Hundreds of Bikers Rally to See Off Colleague Killed by Gunmen in Nkwen

On Thursday June 5th, hundreds of bikers gathered to pay their respects to Tata Jones, a colleague killed by gunmen in Nkwen, Bamenda III municipality. He was shot on the night of Sunday, June 2, near the former Bamenda III council premises, following an attack on Asanji Plaza, a local drinking spot. Tata Jones hailed from a village in Donga Mantung Division.

Four Die Within 24 Hours In Bamenda 

Calm is gradually returning to Bamenda after a series of thunderous gunshots echoed through the town between Sunday, June 1, and Monday, June 2, 2025. Gunmen stormed Asanji Plaza at Mile 4 Nkwen and opened fire when they could not find the bar's owner. One person was killed and three others wounded. The attackers fled after security forces responded with heavy gunfire. On their way back from attacking the Plaza, they opened fire on a commercial bike rider by name Jone, killing him on the spot thereby increasing the casualty count to two.



Two Dead Bodies Found at Ntamulung

As Bamenda residents were still reeling from the Nkwen incident, reports emerged of two bodies found at Ntamulung, both with bullet wounds, suggesting execution-style killings. Sources indicate the victims were brought there and shot, with their hands tied behind their backs. Family members later retrieved the bodies for burial. The motives behind these killings remain unclear, as does the identity of the perpetrators. A similar incident occurred on Tuesday night in Lebean, Bamenda II Municipality, where unidentified gunmen shot a young man dead, heightening fears among civilians.

 Man Detained for Allegedly Murdering Wife Over Njangi Money

In Batibo, Momo Division, security officials have detained a man named Abi for allegedly murdering his wife over a disagreement regarding njangi money. Reports indicate that Abi confessed to the crime after discovering his wife had received a substantial amount from a njangi scheme and refused to share it. He followed her to the farm, where he executed his plan, later claiming that thieves had attacked them. However, suspicions quickly fell on him due to their history of conflict. Abi is currently in custody as investigations continue.


 Security Forces Flog People in Drinking Spots

Nightlife in Bamenda is increasingly under threat from multiple fronts. Armed men have been wreaking havoc, while others are attacking drinking spots and flogging patrons. On Sunday, June 2, individuals dressed in military attire entered several leisure spots in the evening and began flogging people. A victim reported that the individuals claimed they were suffering while others were enjoying themselves in bars. Despite attempts from occupants of the bars to fight back, they were deterred by the guns carried by the attackers. 
If not for the guns, they would have received the beating of their lives," a witness stated.

Elections Cameroon NW Regional Delegation Releases Voter Registration Update

In political news, ELECAM officials in the Northwest Region announced that as of May 28, 2025, the region has registered 20,000 individuals on the electoral list. Speaking to CRTV Northwest, the communication officer for ELECAM NW, Penn Erick stated that their target for this year is 45,000 potential voters. He acknowledged the challenges in meeting this goal but expressed optimism about achieving it before the end of the electoral process.

Insecurity at Nkwen Market

Men of the underworld recently broke into several stalls at Nkwen Market, stealing various items. This incident occurred amid rising insecurity and hardship in Bamenda. There has been no information regarding any arrests or whether security officials have launched investigations into the matter.

Young Man Caught After Stealing Phone, Others At A Health Facility 


A young man was recently caught in a health facility in Nkwen accused of stealing a patient's phone. He was apprehended just as he was about to leave with the phone. Mob justice was administered before he was handed over to security forces for further investigation. This incident occurred only weeks after a woman stole a baby at the same hospital in the Nkwen Municipality.
