The governor of the North West Region of Cameroon, Adolph LeLe L’afrique has called on private investors to invest in the Arts and Culture sector in order to harness the cultural potential of the region, an amazing tool for the development of communities, the region and the country as a whole. Adolph LeLe L’afrique was speaking Tuesday October 8, 2019 during the opening ceremony of the 2019 re-launch of the Artistic and Cultural Season at Up Station Bamenda where he also said, culture is a unifying factor.
The cultural fiesta which is being observed with the theme: Contribution Of Arts And Culture Sub-Section In The Constant Consolidation Of Unity, Peace And Harmonious Living Together For An Emergent Cameroon, the re-launch came at a time when, the current socio-political crisis in the region has dealt a heavy blow to the cultural life of the people especially in the Arts and Culture domain.
According to the North West Regional Delegate of culture, Mr. Hilarion Wirdzeka Faison, many artists have not been able to perform because of insecurity which has forced many out of the region. Hear him: We have artists that have not been able to perform for the past three years and we know that, artists principally depend on revenue that comes from performances. We have theater artists, those of film who have left the region in order to get something elsewhere. Many Cabarets, and point for production and distribution of music have closed down because of security challenges. Despite the challenges, I am happy that, there has been some positive responds at certain quarters reasons why well over one thousand eight hundred artists  turned out today to commune with the global and artistic family on the occasion of RECAN 2019” .
Mr Vugah Samson is an actor. He called on the population to always answer the call to come watch plays saying, just by watching plays, they can have their healing, the leisure they need, education the sensitization and the transformation that they need . He also said, the crisis is not really a problem to him because as artists, they should not only thing of performing well when things are fine. He intimated that, when there are challenges, that is when they are supposed to use their talents to speak out.
For the next five days or so, artists will be showcasing their talents in the domain of arts and culture. Many are equally expected to visit  the RECAN village to feed their eyes and be entertained by watching the beauty of the North West culture , Beautiful Dances And Plays, Outfits, Paintings, Artifacts ,fill their stomachs with Delicious Delicacies, heal themselves with Traditional and Natural Herbs, just to name but these.
