Passengers Escape Through Windows As Transport Bus Catches Fire
The Bus Being Consumed By Fire By Raymond Dingana Passengers who left Yaounde enrout to the South West Region of Cameroon via a VIP bus on the night of Friday November 10 have escaped death through the windows when their bus caught fire around Yasaa on the Yaounde-Douala highway. Many passengers sustained serious wounds as they scrambled to make their way out through the windows given that the doors were locked when the fire erupted. The bus was burnt to ashes including people's valuables. Many have blamed the incident on the negligence of the bus driver whom reports say failed to avoid the disaster by stopping the vehicle when the fire started on the punctured tyres. According to a passenger who spoke to KCBS, he knew the journey was never going to be smooth because departure time was never respected, " The first issue is that we left at 12:am instead of 10pm.
