Covid-19 Scare: CAMASEJ NW Furnishes Members With Hand Sanitizers.

By Raymond Dingana
The Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalist-CAMASEJ has distributed to her members a liter of hand sanitizer each to permit them stay safe as they go about with their job of informing the population. The liters of hand sanitizer were handed over to closed to fifty members of the association during its monthly come together that took place in Nkwen, Friday April 10, 2020.
While handing over the litters of hand sanitizers, North West Chapter President of CAMASEJ, Ambe MacMillan said the hand sanitizers were made available thanks to a joined effort of CAMASEJ and the Regional Delegation of Public Health for the North West. He furthered that, CAMASEJ benefited from a 25% discount offered to them by the NW Regional Delegation of Public Health.
He added that, the hand sanitizers are not just for the journalists, inviting them to share with others. Ambe MacMillan also intimated that, CAMASEJ has contacted one of Bamenda’s renowned artists/Graphic Designers by name BOBO LINOX and he has promised to support seventy journalists with face masks.

Apart from blessing the journalists with hand sanitizers, they were also called upon to be responsible as they go about reporting on the COVID-19 Pandemic. They were invited to report not to instill fear but educate the population on how to stay safe by taking all the preventive measures seriously.
According to Mbaku Jude, journalist and member of CAMASEJ NW, the initiative is a commendable one:
I think what I got from CAMASEJ is commendable. It is not like I can’t buy as a journalist, but I think the idea of the association to remind us as primary information carriers and advocates to be able to practically do what we urge others to do. It is commendable and every association or persons worth the salt should emulate this right in to our communities”. Mbaku Jude told DrayInfos.

With the hand sanitizers in the hands of journalists and CAMASEJ members, it is clear that, while discharging their function as journalists, their safety in the hands of Covid-19 is guaranteed especially as calls have been made for journalists to not only talk on the preventive measures but also put them in to practice.
