Anglophone Armed Conflict: Easter Sunday Shootings Leave Families In Tears

By Raymond Dingana

It was at about 11pm on Easter Sunday, a night which was supposed to be a moment of enjoyment but ended in tears.

While drinking and dancing were ongoing at a popular drinking spot at Ntaturu, one of the boiling points in the ongoing war ravaging the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon,  gun men in military attires were approaching and from every indications, they were not there to take part in the feasting but to pop the guns.

As they moved closer and closer to the snack where the population had gathered, an eye witness said deafening gunshots started rattling the air causing many to escape for their lives.
As the soldiers started shooting, that was when we realized that saparatist fighters were also around that area as they responded with heavy gun fire, he said.
Two young persons were not lucky enough as they were hit and they died on the spot. They had walked to the drinking spot alive only to leave the place liveless in the bag of a vehicle.
