Rural Women's Day: SNWOT, WFP To Accompany Rural Women Attain Excellent Food Cultivation

At a time when the North West Region and Cameroon as a whole is battling food insecurity because of poor harvest triggered by a plethora of challenges, rural women with all nature has blessed them with lack the push to continue feeding the millions of mouths nation wide.

During the 2022 edition of the International Day of Rural Women in Bambili, Tubah Sub Division, Northwest Region of Cameroon, Saturday October 15,2022 with the theme: Rural Women Cultivating Good Food For All, the South West, North West Women Task Force, (SNWOT) and World Food Program, (WFP) made some promisses to the women that brightened their faces.

The financial officer of SNWOT North West, Leinyuy Saber Emeliene pointed out that the women will be supported in their effort to feed the world:
"We have assured them that we will be coming back for more trainings, transportation of crops from farm to market and also support them with farm inputs which are very much needed to cultivate good food for all,
Leinyuy said before adding that,
In the next projects that will be destined for Bambili, we will factor all these while in partnership with WFP, sponsor of the program is ready to use us carry out more projects in this community. We have identified the women like a common initiative group to work with."
On his part, Senjo Emmanuel of WFP said sustainable solutions is what they will be looking at in the nearest future:
"WFP is transitioning to early recovery whereby we will start looking at more sustainable solutions, asset creations putting them in to small groups, getting farm inputs, strengthening the food systems,looking at storage and food transformation," said Senjo.

There are those who think that with the number of hungry mouths growing by the day, initiatives like these coming from SNWOT and IMF should be emulated in order for the fight against food insecurity to bear fruits.
