NWRA Members Decry Continuous Retention Of Fon Yakum, Pray For Safe Return

Vice President of the NWRA, Hon. Royal Majesty YAKUM Kevin TEVIUH

Members of the North West Regional Assembly (NWRA) and the House of Chiefs (HOC) have lamented what they say is the continuous retention of the President of the HOC who doubles as the Vice President of the NWRA, Hon. Royal Majesty YAKUM Kevin TEVIUH abducted a year and some few days ago.

Meeting in Bamenda for the 9th Session of the NWRA that  kicked-off on December 12,2022, members decried what they also described as the incessant sufferings of the people caused by the armed conflict ravaging lives in the region.

They prayed for the rapid and safe liberation of Hon. Magesty YAKUM who is also the Fon of Bambalang in Ngoketunjia Division still in the hands of Non State Armed Groups for 12 months and some days now.

We decry the continuous retention of Hon. Royal Majesty Yakum Kevin Teviuh, President of House Chiefs and Vice President of this Assembly. We have a glimmer of hope after viewing him in a video on social media. We pray for his rapid and safe liberation,

Hon.Fru Angwafo III said on behalf of members of the House.

In a video that emerged on the internet weeks ago, the traditional ruler said he was in the hands of Gen. No pity,a self-styled separatist general operating in the region.

He said in the video clib that No pity was ready to free him if members of his family arrested by government forces are released.

There is no gainsay that the 6-year-old armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon has continue to destroy lives and property.

Thousands have been killed, many are missing with many others behind bars, this according to human rights bodies.
