By Raymond Dingana

The new team charged with piloting the affairs of the North West Chapter of the Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union CJTU says top on its agenda would be to protect the Rights of Journalists practicing in the region.

This was after members of the Trade Union renewed their confidence in Comrade Nji Ignatius led exco that saw new faces coming in to reinforce the team, Saturday March 25,2023 during the Union's Elective General Assembly.

Speaking on behalf of his team, Comrade Nji said they would do all to stand with members in times of difficulties and ensure that their Rights are not violated.

We will not stay back when ever a member is not practicing because of one reason or the other. Making sure members are safe and their Rights protected as they struggle to supply the population with refined and verified information, will intensify,

Comrade Nji said and added that,

when journalists report well, they aren't credited but when they are not pleased by the works of journalists, they lay armbush and plant land mines on their path.

Comrade Nji Ignatius,CJTU North West Chapter  President

He didn't forget to mention those journalists who have died in the line of duty with the case of Martinez Zogo still very fresh.

He also saluted the efforts of defenders of journalists like Angela Quinta whom he indicated is one of those fighting for the rights of journalists to be respected.

Representing the National Executive Bureau during the election exercise was Comrade Bakah Derick who gave reasons why it's important for journalists to belong to CJTU,

Trade Unions are stronger in terms of legality on matters of labour because they are empowered by the laws in place to accompany their members in search for a condusive working environment in their search for a condusive working environment in their various work places,
 said Bakah before continuing that,

Trade Union has as a center role protecting and defending a member on matters of work and if you verify at the level of the law court, it is only the trade union that has the power to stand with a member at the level of the court.

He also reverberated the president's call for media professionals to join CJTU saying they stand to achieve much as members.

This is how the new team looks like,
