By Raymond Dingana

Cameroon's leading opposition Political Party, The Social Democratic Front (SDF) has launched campaigns ahead of March 12 Senatorial Elections, Thursday March 2, 2023

The party revealed reasons why councilors both from the ruling and opposition parties should vote for the SDF list for the good of the North West Region.

Advocate for the allocation of at least One billion FCFA per council every fiscal year, monthly allowances and emoluments to municipal and regional councilors to permit them effectively carry out their functions, indicates the party.

Cross Section Of SDF Militants

In order to seduce councilors to see only the ballot papers of the SDF, the party promised to fight for greater autonomy for the North West Region through effective devolution of powers and adequate content to the Special Status, vote institutional reforms that better meet the urgent needs of the Cameroonian people especially those in the North West Region and above all continue to press for genuine and inclusive dialogue to end the crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, fight for the respect of Human Rights amongst others.

Strategy Put In Place To Charm Voters

Meeting potential voters one on one is one of the strategies put in place.

We will meet them face to face, we will employ other means all to entice them are why voting for us is the best thing that can ever happen to this region, says Senatorial Candidate, Bunyui Emmanuel,
former mayor of Ndu Council.

Achievements Of Incumbents

During the campaign launch that was more of a presser, Journalists wanted to know what the incumbent senators achieved when they were in office that could be the reason that voters would want to maintain them there.

List leader Vanigansen MoChiggle

List leader Vanigansen MoChiggle indicated that though the prevailing situation in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon stood on their way, they were still able to make their presence felt.

I aided some road projects in Bamenda III and others; I contributed to quench the thirst of the population of   Bamenda I and Wosing in Bali Nyonga by helping to ensure the availability of portable water. I also extended a hand of fellowship to internally displaced persons (IDPs) supporting them in their education and other careers.

On his Senator Ngam Honore from Boyo pointed out that he has been active in the areas of education, electricity and water.

I provided a three phase transformer to supply electricity. I have supported water projects and lots more.
He furthered that their job is to vote laws and control government action though it hasn't stopped them from making their presence felt in other areas.

Outlining some of his achievements, Kinyang George from Bui said he is behind the electricity project in Noni subdivision worth 27 million FCFA.

I also spent close to 8million francs to tutor 20 young girls from Bui Division in Hotel Management which is why many are living a better life today.

Vanigansen MoChiggle is running for Mezam, Buh Sule Tegha in Menchum, Ajuoh Ngam Honore in Boyo, Kinyang Georges Nyang in Bui, Amboufei Diana Engenembe in Momo, Bunyui Emmanuel Nyugab in Donga Mantung and Mafogho Inusa Petiangma in Ngoketunjia.

Though many think with only 31 municipal councilors out of the 1075 in the region and no regional councilor out of the 90 at the Regional Assembly, the participation of the SDF in the elections is a formality. How the party still thinks that they can emerge victorious because they know that voters will vote wisely come March 12, 2023.
