Reconstructing NW/SW:Youths To Take Center Stage In Developing Regions

The new Operational Strategy of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, PPRD NW/SW will target young persons of 15 to 35 years.  

Some of the youths in this age bracket are said to be the main cause of the problem which is born of  Drop out from school, Idleness, Drugs, Petty crime, Kidnapping, rape, murder amongs others.

From being the instigators of crimes which has sent many to their early graves to solutions providers through development will be taken seriously in the New Operational Strategy of the PPRD NW/SW as far as involving the youths in the whole process is concerned.

In order that efforts to bring these youths onboard yield the desired fruits and also that   local efforts are broad based and effective, a net-work of communicators involving grassroots communicators (community radio, religious bodies, village town criers, cultural and Development associations) will be set up to facilitate the flow of information.

This network will span from Subdivisional to National levels.

To Boost local economy, all non-skilled labour will as a priority be given to the youths of the locality, (as a contractual obligation). Thirty percent (30%) of the renumeration will be saved for the beneficially in a local financial institution, to be used, as a joint funding scheme with the Plan,for life skills acquisition training.

These were some of the decisions arrived at during the 5th Ordinally Session of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions of Camroon PPRD NW/SW.

The session that was chaired by the Chairman of the PPRD NW/SW regions by Mr.Balungeli Confiance Ebune held at the Star Building in Yaounde, Thursday April 13,2023.
