Militants of Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM in the North West Region (NWR) have pleaded with the president of the Republic, Paul Biya to call for early presidential election, with him as their candidate.

The call came Sunday March 24th, 2024 during celebrations to mark the 39th birthday of the CPDM in Bamenda, where the party was born 39 years ago.

Big Wigs Of The CPDM Political Party

Reading  what he described as a special statement prepared by militants of the CPDM to the National President of the political party, Paul Biya, Dr Ngam Gillieth said,

"We appeal to your Excellency to call for early Presidential election, and we reiterate our appeal for your Excellency Paul Biya to be our candidate,"

Advancing reasons why they wish to have early presidential election and why Paul Biya their candidate, Dr Ngam Gillieth, Charge De Mission at Prime Minister's Office pointed out in the statement that the CPDM was born in the Regional Capital Bamenda on the 24th of March, 1985.

He also indicated that the North West Region has played a capital role in several regional landmarks in the history of Cameroon such as the October 1, 1961 reunification of Cameroon.

Dr Ngam also pointed out diversed development projects going on in the NWR, the urgent need to consolidate peace and stability, and what he says is President Biya's ceaseless efforts to ensure a return to normalcy in the region amonsgt others as some of the reasons why they badly need early Presidential election with Paul Biya as candidate.

Still in line with the appeal to Paul Biya to call for early Presidential election, the leader of the NW CPDM Permanent Regional Delegation, former Prime Minister, Philemon Yang said,

"We have a right to make a suggestion, and the earlier the better. We are only making a suggestion, the head of state will decide on his own."

Supporters of the CPDM were also invited to massively enter their names in to the electoral registers.

According to the political party, they believe in the verdict of the ballot box. Militants were also advised to be vigilant taken in to consideration the context of the North West Region.

Supporters and sympathisers of the party were warned that their 'enemies', and allies are struggling to outnumber them in the registers, and that some are ready to go as far as taking their lives.

The 39th birthday of the CPDM came at time when Cameroonians especially those in Bamenda, and the NWR as a whole are complaining of high cost of living, dead traps in the name of roads, epileptic electricity supply, inadequate portable water, insecurity, just to name but these.

Many in Bamenda think for the party to make any sense in the eyes of the suffering masses, they should be seen handling just the basic problems stirring the population in the eyes, like what Techno, a Nigerian musician said in one of his songs titled 'Rara,' " forget about the big things, let's talk about the small things."
