Economic operators in the North West Region (NWR) of Cameroon are admired for their resilience during tough times. This spirit gives hope to the people in the region for a better future.

One of these resilient operators, Sir Edison Fru Ndi, who runs Dream Land Snack Bar in Nkwen, Bamenda III municipality, and other businesses was recently honored with an award. Prime International Press Award celebrated him as NW Most Resilient Economic Operator on July 17, 2025, in Bamenda.

The award recognizes not only Sir Edison's achievements as an economic operator, but also his efforts to reduce poverty by creating jobs and his social responsibility projects, like installing street lights in some communities.

"Even though the Anglophone crisis has hurt many businesses, Sir Edison stayed and worked to improve life for the people," said Mokom Thomas, a representative of the award committee.

Surprised by the award, Sir Edison said,

"When you serve your community and do good, it gets recognized. This is my first international award, and my love for this region kept me here despite the challenges."

He dedicated the award to his workers, saying,

"I’m just leading them; they are the ones doing all the hard work. If we are growing together, it’s because we are working together."

He said the award motivates him to continue helping his community. He also encouraged those who left the region because of the crisis to return and help improve it, adding that,

"Home is home, no place like home."

Sir Edison’s biggest wish is to see an end to the crisis that has harmed many lives in the region. He believes young people should not be dying, as they hold the future of the region.
