CPDM Campaign Launch In SWR: PM Dion Ngute Mobilizes Support for Biya's Landslide Victory

Dione Ngute At The Launch Of CPDM Campaigns In Buea, SWR

By Raymond Dingana

Cameroon's Prime Minister and special envoy of President Paul Biya, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, has stressed that Paul Biya is the best choice for the people of the South West Region. He made this statement on Saturday, September 17, 2025, during the campaign launch for the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) in Buea.

Dion Ngute warned that the South West Region would lose its benefits and development if Paul Biya does not win the upcoming presidential election on October 12, 2025. He pointed out that the region is well represented in government and has seen significant projects, like the Kumba Gas Plant, as evidence of Biya’s commitment to its growth.

He stated that

“Politics is a game of interest, and President Biya cares about the South West Region.”

Dion Ngute also denied rumors about the National Oil Refinery (SONARA) being transferred. He noted that construction has started on parts of the refinery damaged by fire in 2019, proving that it remains an important asset for the region.

The Prime Minister promised further development efforts, highlighting the Limbe Deep Seaport and plans for the Bekoko-Idenau road and Tiko Airport. He warned that electing anyone other than Biya would harm the South West Region.

In response to concerns about President Biya’s age and health, the Prime Minister called these claims unreasonable. He asked cocoa farmers,

“Do you cut down a cocoa tree because it is old?”

 to which the crowd replied,

“No! No.”

He assured CPDM supporters that President Biya relies on him to represent him where he can't reach.

Senator Nfor Tabetando, interim head of the SW Regional Permanent Delegation of the CPDM in the South West, urged the people to show their support for the President, who has responded to their calls to run for office. He emphasized that it is now their responsibility to ensure his victory on election day. Tabetando encouraged party members to work hard to spread Biya’s message throughout the region.

He warned against complacency, reminding party members that while the South West is a CPDM stronghold, no two elections are the same.

This sentiment reflects the party's campaign strategy, which aims for novelty. According to Prof. Elvis Ngole Ngole, Director of the CPDM Academy, social media will play a key role in reaching young voters. He said  Biya has promised that if elected, the next seven years will focus on youth and women. Insiders suggest that his campaign will emphasize this commitment, with a grassroots approach and door-to-door outreach.
