CPDM Launches Presidential Campaign in Bamenda, Explains Why Voters Should Choose Biya

Yang Philemon Speaking To CPDM Supporters At The Congress Hall

The Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) has kicked off its presidential campaign ahead of the elections on October 12. The launch event took place at the Bamenda Congress Hall on Saturday, September 27, 2025, with party members attending from various regions.

During the event, Yang Philemon, president of the North West Regional Campaign Committee, acknowledged that all candidates for the upcoming elections are good Cameroonians. However, he emphasized that they do not all have the same qualifications.

"Some are more qualified than others,"

 Yang stated.

He pointed out that the opposition has spent a lot of time criticizing President Paul Biya, saying,

"Criticizing a president is not a plan or a vision. The opposition paints a picture of a world that doesn't exist. They promise to take you to heaven, but they haven't been there themselves. Moreover, they forget that you must die to get to heaven. Most of the opposition leaders lacks the experience that President Biya has."

Explaining why President Biya is the best candidate, Yang explained why Cameroonians should go for an experienced leader, not those who have never been in leadership position before.

"We don't need people who talk as if they can govern when they have never even managed a village. Many in the opposition have never governed anything."

He also mentioned that President Biya is focused on empowering women and investing in youth reason why he is the best candidate.

"The future of this country lies with the young people who will bring about change,"

Yang remarked.

Yang portrayed the CPDM candidate as the only one capable of securing the future of Cameroon. This candidate aims to preserve peace and unity, consolidate the democracy he said Cameroon enjoys, and promote progress toward emergence. Key priorities include among others include improving the population's purchasing power.

He told CPDM party supporters that there would be improvements in education, infrastructure, and social services, including roads, railways, and airports.

"These are the things that will help make Cameroon great, like countries such as Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, and China."

Yang urged voters to vote for President Paul Biya saying a vote for Biya is a vote for a better future. He urged party supporters to stand firm and not disappoint the party.
