Bambui:Tragic Fire Incident Leaves Baby Dead
A one-year-and-eleven-month-old baby died after being caught in a fire on a farm. The child had been living with his grandmother after being abandoned by his mother. The grandmother left the child with an uncle while she visited a relative. The uncle accidentally set a pile of grass on fire, which spread and caused severe burns to the child. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the child did not survive.
Body Found in Stream In Nkwen-Bamenda
On March 1, 2026, a man's body was found in a river near Hossana School in Ntambesi. The cause of death is unknown, and the body was decomposing. Witnesses, who were playing football nearby, mistook it for a mannequin. Investigations are ongoing to determine what happened.
Uniformed Officers Brutalise Suspected Thief In Old Town
Uniformed officers at a hotel in Old Town, Bamenda, have been criticized for their brutal treatment of a young man accused of stealing from a nearby church. After being caught, the man was handed over to soldiers, who severely beat him. Witnesses described the attacks as inhumane. The suspect was still in custody at the time of reporting.
GBV: Angry Mob Attacked Alleged Rapist In Meta Quarters-Bamenda
In the Meta Quarter of Bamenda II, a 30-year-old man narrowly escaped death after being accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. Neighbors intervened after the girl reported the assault. The man was taken away by police, and the girl received medical care.
Suspected Thieves Apprehended And Given Snake Beatings
Two suspected thieves, known as "Junkies," were caught trying to steal in Bamenda II. They were severely beaten and then handed over to security forces. Many young people in Bamenda are struggling with drug addiction, leading some to steal to fund their habits. Despite efforts to combat the drug trade, it continues to thrive.
Student Electrocuted During Internship Buried
A young student from a private university in Cameroon, who was doing an internship, has sadly passed away after being electrocuted in Bambili, Tubah Sub Division, North West Region. He was laid to rest in his hometown of Bangolan in the Ngoketunjia Division.The student, named Nicodemus, was working with a communication company when the incident occurred. While he was trying to direct a pole into a hole that had been dug, it accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage cable. Nicodemus was electrocuted and died as a result. Others who were with him were also affected but thankfully survived.
