The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC), Nitob Congregation in the Mezam South Presbytery, celebrated its 20th anniversary on Sunday, June 7. The event featured a thanksgiving service, time for reflection, and a call for renewed commitment to the church.
Members gathered in a joyful and spirit-filled atmosphere. There was music and praise throughout the celebration, with gratitude expressed in every moment of the programme.
A Theme That Set the Tone
The anniversary was held under the theme:
“Then Samuel took a stone, and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying: ‘This far has the Lord helped us.’”
Speaking during the event, Rev. Pastor Achah Gerald, Presbyterial Secretary for Mezam South Presbytery, explained the meaning of Ebenezer
“Ebenezer, meaning stone of help, was a declaration by the Israelites. Today, as a congregation, we declare the same truth at this historic moment. It acknowledges that God has led us this far and that the same God will continue to guide us,”
he said.

A Call to Support Church Development
With the congregation still growing, Elder Muma Jude Awah Chairman of the Congregation, called on members and supporters to continue investing in church projects.
“Work in God’s house is done progressively and gradually. With two years of my mandate remaining, I intend to fix a pathway into the church, acquire good musical instruments for the praise team, pave the church yard, and complete other projects. I call on everyone to support these efforts for the growth of the congregation,”
Elder Muma Jude said.

He added that the socio-political crisis affected the church, causing a drop in population, but efforts are ongoing to bring back those who were lost.
Honouring the Pioneers
The 20th anniversary also recognised members who played key roles in the congregation from the beginning.
