Oshie Lights Up Again: PPRD Project Executed by Dreamland Connect Restores Hope After Years of Darkness

By Raymond Dingana

October 7, 2026, will remain a memorable day for the people of Oshie in Momo Division, North West Region of Cameroon. After years without electricity, homes in the community are once again lit, bringing renewed hope to families and businesses.

The return of electricity marks a major change for a community that has struggled with the effects of living without reliable power. Health facilities have faced difficulties, while learners have had limited opportunities to study comfortably at night.

The change has been made possible through an electricity project delivered under the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development (PPRD) of the North West and South West Regions and executed by Dreamland Connect PLC, led by Edison Fru Ndi.

A New Chapter For Oshie

The project forms part of the rehabilitation and extension of the Mbengwi–Oshie electricity network in Momo Division. It is expected to improve living conditions and support economic activities across the area.

The project's contractual scope includes a 19.985-kilometre main medium-voltage line, additional distribution lines, transformer installations and other equipment needed to support electricity supply.

For residents, however, the significance of the project goes beyond the technical figures. It means better opportunities to study, improved working conditions and renewed prospects for small businesses that depend on electricity.

Hope For learners And Health Facilities

For learners in Oshie, the return of electricity could make a real difference. Many students have struggled to read their books at night because of the lack of power. With electricity restored, they can now have better conditions for studying after school.

Health facilities also stand to benefit from improved access to electricity. A more reliable power supply can support essential activities and make it easier for health workers to carry out their duties.

Light Shines In Oshie

The impact is also expected to extend to homes and businesses, where electricity can help residents carry out daily activities with greater ease.

Corn Mills Roar Back To Life

The return of electricity has also brought a familiar sound back to the community: the hum of corn mills.

As the lights came on and the machines started running, residents had reason to celebrate. For lovers of corn fufu, a popular meal in the area, access to functioning corn mills means less difficulty getting maize ground for their meals.

These everyday changes show how access to electricity can affect not only public services but also food preparation, livelihoods and community life.

Dreamland Connect And The Drive For Development

For Dreamland Connect PLC, the successful delivery of the project represents a contribution to the reconstruction and development of communities in the North West Region.

Through the PPRD, the electricity network project seeks to restore essential infrastructure and improve access to services in areas affected by years of crisis and disruption.

The restoration of electricity in Oshie is a reminder of the importance of infrastructure projects that respond to the daily needs of local populations.

Protecting The New Investment

With electricity restored, residents also have a responsibility to protect the infrastructure and ensure its proper use and maintenance.

Community cooperation will be important in preserving the network and helping the benefits of the project last for years to come.

For the people of Oshie, October 7, 2026, was more than the day electricity returned. It marked a fresh opportunity for children to study under electric light, health workers to improve their working conditions, and families and businesses to look forward to a brighter future.
