Municipal Councilors In Cameroon Going Nowhere still January 29, 2020










The Head Of State, President Paul Biya of Cameroon has signed a decree extending the mandate of municipal councilors  to the 29 of January 2020.The presidential decree extending the mandate of municipal councilors is dated Monday July 15, 2019.The municipal councilors were elected in September 2013.This is the second time that municipal councilors are benefiting from an extension of their mandate.The first extension was in July 2018.

Bamenda: Population Demands Justice For Rape Victims As Police Presents Suspected Pedophile To Public

Suspect(Face Covered) Being Presented To The Public  By Raymond Dingana  Many in Bamenda, capital of the North West Region of Cameroon have intensified calls for justice following the arrest of 57-year-old Wirba Julius, a lecturer at a Polytechnic University Institute accused of raping minors as young as four.  The suspect was  presented to the public on Friday February 28, 2025 at the Central Police Station at Old Town Bamenda II Council area. Residents fear that money may influence the legal process, allowing the suspect to evade justice reason why they say they are ringing the alarm bell. Wirba faces allegations of violating seven children, with the youngest being just 2 years old. Sama Hilda  By Raymond Dingana Sama Hilda, business woman, and a mother of two was kidnapped near her Mile 6 residence on Tuesday, September 24, just one day after a two-week lockdown imposed by non-state armed groups seeking to reclaim what they claim is the lost sovereignty of a country they call Ambazonia. According to investigations conducted by a team of Drayinfos reporters, Sama Hilda maintained communication with her husband and other family members while in captivity. The armed men opened these communication channels, demanding a ransom of over 2 million FCFA. Sources revealed that raising such an amount was a daunting task, given the hardships faced by the population in this crisis battered region. According to Michael, (not his real name), Hilda was in constant communication with her husband not knowing the conversation they had was going to be their last.   Ebai Elias When He Was Alive  Raymond Dingana Shock and consternation have grabbed inhabitants of Alahlieh, a neighborhood in Nkwen, Bamenda III council area after what many have described as a reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet unfolded  there on Saturday October 12,2024. A road side fuel dealer by name Ebai Elias drank what sources say was acid after pouring it on his wife, a lady reports say is a lecturer at the University of Bamenda. The woman is currently in critical condition at a healthcare facility in Bamenda haven suffered severe burns from the chemical substance. We learned that he poured the chemical on his wife, prompting her loud screams that alerted neighbors.  By the time the neighbors arrived, Ebai had already consumed the chemical, and collapsed to the floor before they could intervene.
