911 Snack Bar: CCTV Cameras Are To Protect My Business And Customers, Nothing Else.

The management
of 911 Snack Bar in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon has debunked information circulating on social media insinuating
that, the snack back has installed CCTV Cameras to monitor pro independence fighters visiting the snack bar to relax.Talking
to DrayInfos Tuesday August 6th,2019,the
CEO of the snack bar says, the CCTV Cameras are for the security of his
business and customers:
“ I was embarrassed when I read an
information over the social media that, 911 snack bar in Bamenda has installed CCTV Cameras to track down pro
independence fighters to hand them over to security forces. CCTV Cameras did
not start in 911, many businesses have installed them for security purposes.
They are even Cameras on the streets of Bamenda and all these are for
security purposes, why is the case of 911 different”? “The cameras are there
for the security of the business and its customers so that they can feel free whenever
they are around the snack; they were never installed to spy on anyone”. He added.
Asked why he decided
to install the CCTV Cameras but now given the fact that, the business is about a decade old now, he says: “I have suffered many attacks here with the latest being the case of last Wednesday
July 31,2019 breaking Thursday . I have been held here at gun point twice and a
gun fired over my head. I have filed complaints regarding the attacks but
nothing has filtered out. Because of all these, I decided to take measures to provide
security for my business and for my customers by installing the CCTV Cameras. I
have lost closed to 600 crates of beer and many others and installing the CCTV
Cameras was also a measure I took to track down those carrying my business items
away. The CCTV Cameras were installed on Sunday August 4th 2019 after
last Wednesday’s burglary at the snack only for me to read on social media that, I have installed CCTV Cameras to track down pro independence fighters”. “My snack bar is not a political snack bar, it
has nothing to do with the current sociopolitical crises in the North West and
South West Regions of the country. I am only trying to put food on the table;
my customers can testify that they have never seen me with a politician in my bar”.
To the authors of
the information circulating of the social media, the CEO of 911 says, it would
have been better if they contacted him for clarifications after laying hands on
such information because it could have come from those who just wanted to sabotage
his business. He also called on his customers to see 911 as the same relaxation
joint they have known for about a decade now and that, any security measure taken
there is for their security just like what Fueling Stations, Super Markets, Financial
Institutions and many others have been doing for their customers.
