By Raymond Dingana

The SDF senator from Momo Division in the North West Region of Cameroon who doubles as the Vice President of the Senate has donated anti covid-19 kits to people with special needs and other categories of persons. The items made up of more than one hundred Bucket Taps of 50liters each, Hand Sanitizers, Cartons of Soap, and One thousand face masks were handed over to the beneficiaries on Thursday May 7, 2020 at the Ntamulung Multi-purpose hall in Bamenda. There was also a special package destined for the Health Family made up Gloves and twenty cups of chloroquine with each cup containing sixty tablets all in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“One of the targeted groups is people with special needs. This is because, if they say, on your mark, get set, go, people like you and me will rush and collect but will not be the case with them which means they may end up not benefiting. The ladies at the foul line at the food market are also targeted because; that area is not very hygienic and I know that if I speak with them on covid-19, they will believe in me. The people plating hair are in an area considered to be a corridor where people pass in and out of the market, so I thought that, if we stationed some of the buckets there, it will enable people wash their hands. All what we are sharing here, my Division, Momo will have the lions share and my greatest wish is that, they kits be used judiciously”.Senator Nkeze Emilia told DrayInfos.

Also present at the event was the district medical officer for Batibo, Dr.  Ajabmoh Henry Njoteh who thanked the Senator for thinking about health personnel. He said not more than 10% of the population of Batibo is aware of the virus; there are about three hundred community workers on the ground doing door to door sensitization. He however cried that, lack of electricity, poor road network, lack of motivation among others are hampering the fight against Covid-19.

Dr. Mercy Fundoh is head of the Solidarity Ward, Isolation and Treatment Center for Covid -19 in the NWR. She said they face a lot of challenges especially on the part of the patience. “To counsel the patients, inform them about their results for them to accept the results and be separated from their loved ones in order to follow up with their treatment is also a challenge. I am happy so far that, all of our patients have been cooperative. The other challenge we have is that of health workers. You begin to think, should I risk my life taking care of patience, should I abandon the job and so on. Working in the health sector is a calling. You cannot abandon sick people no matter the sickness. We also face the challenge of material as well as health personnel which is a problem everywhere”. She said.
