Don't Insult Us, NW Population Tells Tasong

By Raymond Dingana

The Minister Delegate to the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development in charge of Planning, Paul Tasong has come under fire from many in Bamenda who say they feel insulted by his recent outings.

This was shortly after Min. Tasong told the population that, the project to tare the Bamenda Ring Road will remain on paper if the people don't say  no to insecurity.

Talking to drayinfos.com, Mundi P. Acha said he feels insulted by the minister's comments,

"What an insult? So it has gotten to this level. Strings are now  attached to what is duely ours to a point where we have been reduced to beggers. Let Tasong stop insulting us please.Who is supposed to fight against insecurity, the armeless population caught up in the middle of the senseless war or those refusing to dialogue for peace to return"? Mundi ask.

Positive(not his real names) challenged  Minister Tasong to ask the people what they truely need,

"If you care about the people of the North West Region, ask them what they truely want, Peace or Roads. The government should stop the war if it is standing on the way of development," positive said.
Many are also of the opinion that, Paul Tasong's outing was a contradiction to what he said when he visted Bamenda to talk on the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development (PPDR) of the North West Region.

"Has Tasong finally realized that it is Peace that is a pathway to development and not the other way round"? Mrs Tita Martha asked adding that " he is now blaming insecurity, was there insecurity when President Paul Biya said he was going to personally suppervise work on the ring road, who is fulling who here"?
Minister Paul Tasong on Tuesday 02 November 2021during his visit to explain the National Development Strategy for 2020- 2030 told the press in Bamenda that for the ring road project to be realized, the population must come out as one man and shun insecurity. Read him:

"That project will stay on paper if the people of the Northwest Region don't sit up and face the challenge of security. If the people of the Northwest want that project to be delivered, it is depending on them to stand up like one man and  say no to insecurity,  and they will have that project without further delay."
He however indicated that, though the money for the funds for the project are available, no contractor will dare commence work because of the prevailing situation.

Minister Paul Tasong During His Visit To Bamenda

The much trumpeted ring road is expected to pass through five out of the seven devisions that make up the troubled North West Region namely, Mezam, Ngoketunjia, Bui, Donga Mantung and Mechum Divisions.

It should be burn in mind that, society have not stopped amplifying calls for what they called a genuine dialogue for the current bloodletting rocking the two restive regions of the country to be stopped.
