PIC's Workshop With Mayors: Don't Involve Council Workers In Political Campaigns-Nina Ambuban

During her presentation on Non- Discrimination and Mainstreaming Inclusiveness in Council Functioning at a two-day seminar on Duties and Ethical Compliance in Regional and Council Services, Thursday October 27,2022 organized by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator [OPIC] for the North West, Ambuban cautioned mayors against dragging their workers in to election campaigns.

She explained that such acts go a long way to disfavor the workers especially in a situation where a new mayors comes in:
"During political campaigns, mayors move out with council staff and if the mayor is not maintained, the incoming mayor will want to discriminate against the staff because they campaign against him or her. Some might even be dismissed and this will mean their Rights have been voilated. Council workers should be allow to chose their political parties, " Ambuban said.
Some participants invited OPIC  to ensure that no council worker is unjustly sacked because he or she supported the former mayor.

Bad governance by authorites, Political and Administrative Pressure, Lack of financial resources, citizens not interested in the Functioning of council's amongst others.

Thanks Ray for the except.Kudos to Ambubon for bringing up or making known to us the malpractices of some of these mayors.Meetings like this should always show up before campaigns/elections.

Road Accident Leaves Two Persons Dead Along Bamenda-Bambili Stretch

Chattered Vehicles As A Result Of Accident  By Raymond Dingana Township taxi drivers in Bamenda are still in shock following the death of one of theirs who died alongside his passenger at the Mile 6 neighborhood in Nkwen, on the Bamenda-Bambili road, Friday March 15, 2024. The accident that didn't only take away lives but caused enormous damages on the two vehicles involved has been attributed to over speeding. "The black private car was on top speed when it suddenly found itself on the other said of the road colliding with the taxi. The occupants of the private owned vehicle fled the scene after the accident. The vehicle was coming from the Mile 6 direction while the taxi was heading towards Bamenda, " explained a witness. The passenger whose only name drayinfos got as Tigwe died on the spot, while the driver of the Starlet vehicle died later at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda. Bamenda: Population Protests Killing Of Civilian By Uniform Officer

  Cross Section Of Protesting Crowd At Up Station  By Raymond Dingana The early hours of Thursday April 4,2024 was a tensed one at the Bamenda I council area following the stabbing to death of the young man identified as Junior Awazi popularly known as BJ by a uniform officer in civilian attire. The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday breaking Thursday April 4 in a beer parlor at Up Station, Bamenda I Council area. The population was out in the streets expressing their grievances demanding justice for the slain young man. " It all started when the uniform officer in civilian attire wounded a girl's hand after she rejected his love advances. BJ intervene and the officer stabbed him three times and that was his end," narrates a witness who spoke to drayinfos on the basis of anonymity.
