Ndichia Foundation has facilitates back to school to over 200  Primary and Secondary School children, mostly orphans persons with disabilities with didactic material ahead of the 2022/2023 academic year.

The kids received back to school kits comprising books, pens, pencils, rulers and sharpeners that will help prepare them for the start of the school year

This was Tuesday August 8, 2023 during a back to school campaign that brought together children from Ntankah, Ntamulung and Mulang who have been displaced by the Anglophone crisis from the seven divisions of the North West Region of Cameroon.

Speaking at the St. Edmund’s Catholic Church Mulang where the donation took place,  Rev.Father Anthony Ndang said Rev Fr Anthony Ndang, representative of Ndichia Foundation appreciated the donors and partners for their love and generosity to children who can now look forward to a new academic year with hope.

Fr. Ndang invited the children to study hard and commit themselves to becoming leaders of tomorrow. He urged them to implement and follow the values of Ndichia Foundation: respect, honesty, understanding, integrity, ethical conduct, selflessness, accountability and independence.

He added that the aim of the exercise is to  give hope to disillusioned kids whose hope of going back to school has been a far fetch dream, until now possible thanks to Ndichia Foundation.

According to Mbamte Crenny, a 13 year-old, Form two student and IDP currently leaving with host parents in Bamenda, going back to school on her part is now sure thanks to the donation. She expressed her gratitude to Ndichia Foundation for coming to their aid.

Beneficiaries Celebrated Their Packages

According to Kaira Wiykiynuy a 24-year-old Lower sixth Student, the gift of didactic materials is one step towards her future success and becoming a better person tomorrow while Awah Brian, 17 year student of GBHS Bamenda appreciated the timely donation by Ndichia Foundation to help him start school in time.

With the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, life has become harder and harder for families. Kycess Manga, 18 year student of PCHS Bamenda due to the continuous crisis was unable to afford school needs and being an IDP, Ndichia Foundation has come to his rescue.

Saluting the gesture towards them,a parent,Mrs Abeche Lidwina, whose four children were beneficiaries,  said her happiness can’t be measured in words.

“I will like to thank Ndichia Foundation for the support by providing school materials to our children. I am deeply grateful and I really appreciate your efforts and charity. May God continue to bless, protect and strengthen all those who help you to help us.”

The seventh year armed conflict in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon have left many school children helpless each time it’s back to school. Some have been displaced, some abandoned without parents and others forced to now live with one or more forms of disability.

As the struggle to keep children in school continues, initiatives like that of Ndichia foundation have continued to wipe away tears from the eyes of most families and kids in Bamenda

Ndichia Foundation, a local based organisation named after the late Bobe Primus Nkuo Ndichia, a philanthropist in education of children. The Foundation seeks to promote holistic education to children who have never been to school and also to school drop outs or victims of the Anglophone crisis.

Basic skills such as reading, writing will ensure a decent life for children who have been orphaned as a result of the ongoing crisis. Children who grow up without attending school are at risk of becoming a “lost generation”. Education is very important in the North West Region of Cameroon that has been affected by violence, conflict and instability.

Access to fees, didactic materials to orphans and displaced children in the North West Region of Cameroon, will reduce conflict, restore stability and support reconstruction.

In a survey by the NDICHIA FOUNDATION, a good proportion of children of school going age are not in school for lack of financial and logistical means to support the education needs. On the one hand, some of the children have lost essential personal documents, and/or parent(s)/relatives on whom they would have been dependent for assistance; some of the guardians on the other hand have lost property and/or businesses as well as faced major setbacks in the practice of their daily income generating activities, thereby suffering  from lack of financial means.

This has forced some of them to relegate the need for the children’s education to second place. The children thus abandoned to themselves, easily fall prey to such social vices as banditry, prostitution, drug abuse, taking up arms, with attendant consequences.

Ndichia Foundation offer the possibility for hundreds of children to enroll into primary/secondary school. This action will give much needed psycho-social support to victims of the crises, draw public attention to the need for greater specialized support to the school system, inspire a positive change in attitude towards education.

Ndichia Foundation empowers children through education and the main focus of the Foundation is to break the yoke of poverty and encourage young people to indulge in learning. The Foundation has taken as a duty to give assistance and make the needy ready for school each time its back to school in the region.

Keep a child at school - make an impact - help Ndichia Foundation send orphans and displaced children to school.
