Inhabitants of the Bamenda III Municipality are still devastated seeing what they baptized their beautiful ceremonial hall whose elegance was elevated just of recent lying in ruins after an arson attack, Saturday September 30th.

Amongst those whose hearts are broken following the incident is the mayor of the Bamenda III Council, Fongu Cletus Tanwie and Fon Azehfor III of Nkwen.

Visiting the affected structures, Mayor Fongu said no amount of attack will disturb the normal functioning of the council because they are only out to serve the community irrespective of political, religious, ethnic and cultural background.

"We are employing measures to guarantee a smooth continuation of council activities rendered to the needy population. We will not allow the fire-raising to deprive the people of council services,"

Fongu Cletus told drayinfos.

He continued that,

"The well equipped ceremonial  hall has been completely damaged by the fire, the whole electricity system is completely destroyed including the beautiful roof."

He said fencing the office and other security measures are in the pipeline to frustrate any further assault on the council site.

Also at the scene to feed his eyes was Fon Azehfor III of Nkwen. He called on sons and daughters of Nkwen to protect their council.

"This is more than he word terrible, that we destroy what the state has put in place for the usage of the community. The council is doing a lot for the people. We condemn it with strong terms. MY people are very alert and were out to quench the fire."

He however regretted that all the people could do was prevent the fire from spreading given that the fire had already engulfed the hall making it impossible to rescue the situation.

He appreciated them for coming out to save the council building from being touched calling on all and sundry to stand against destruction.

If there is one area in development that is of high demand in Mezam Division, it is the construction of roads.

Ever since the Mayors in Mezam came into office for a new mandate, Bamenda III council is the council to enable her populace enjoy a certain degree of tarred road.

There is a road after the mile 4 bridge to center bolt, another stretch from the council to New Road that saw the light of day in the present mandate.

Citizens in the other council areas in Mezam Division namely; Bamenda I, II and III, Bali, Santa, Bafut and Tubah, are yet to enjoy a tarred road with the present mayors in office.

Bamenda III Council is the only council in the hands of the main opposition party in Cameroon, the Social Democratic Front, SDF.
