By Anne-Valien Berinyuy

Hope and excitement continue to heighten among the population of Bamenda and the North West Region as they eagerly anticipate Prime Minister Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute's visit. Many residents believe that this visit will usher in significant development for the region.

Infrastructure Improvements on the Horizon

The Prime Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone for the construction of an intra-urban road network in Bamenda. Given the poor condition of the roads, this announcement has sparked considerable enthusiasm among the community. Residents are optimistic that his visit will catalyze growth and improvements.

Resident Voices: A Call for Change

Tume, a local resident, expressed the widespread sentiment regarding the state of the roads and express hopes that things might change with PM's visit:

"Look at the Bamenda City roads, especially from New Road to Banja Street, Ngeng, Veterinary, and T-Junctions. They are an eyesore, a city shame. If the foundation stone is laid, and work unfolds as it should, many things will change for the good."

Student Concerns: Addressing University Challenges

In discussions with Perpetua and Christine, students from the University of Bamenda highlighted pressing issues that urgently need PM Dion Ngute's attention.

"We don't have enough lecture halls, electricity is unreliable, water is unsafe for drinking, and rents in student residential areas are high. Transport fares are inflated due to numerous security checkpoints where extortion occurs."

They hope the university authorities will present these challenges to the Prime Minister, emphasizing the need for actionable solutions rather than empty promises.

Collective Hope for Positive Outcomes

As the community prepares for the PM's arrival, there is a shared hope that his visit will lead to meaningful changes. Residents and students alike are eager to see real improvements across various sectors, and they trust that the discussions will result in tangible benefits for Bamenda.
