The recent election results from Ndian, South West Region, indicate a significant endorsement for President Paul Biya, who secured a staggering 98.9% of the vote on October 12, 2025. This overwhelming support comes despite separatist calls for a boycott, with over 33,000 residents participating in the election.
The campaign, led by Balungeli Confiance Ebune, Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office, and closely monitored by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, emphasized a grassroots approach, reaching out to voters in various localities. Analysts suggest that the success of the CPDM in Ndian reflects a strong loyalty among the electorate.
During the campaign, PM Dion Ngute positioned himself as a key supporter of President Biya, reinforcing the message that the President is the only viable candidate. This sentiment was echoed at the regional campaign rally in Buea, where CPDM leaders expressed confidence in Biya's commitment to the region's welfare, particularly in prioritizing women and youth initiatives.
In the broader context of the South West Region, Biya achieved an overall victory with 68.79% of the votes, totaling 135,975. Ndian's results were particularly striking, followed by Manyu at 91.7%, while other divisions like Kupe Muanenguba and Meme showed lower support levels. This victory solidifies Biya's eighth consecutive term in office, positioning him ahead of leading opposition figures.
As the region processes these results, CPDM officials have remained confident, urging residents to dismiss calls for unrest and violence, indicating a strong belief in the legitimacy of the election outcome.
