St. Mary's International College and University Institute Tiko has strengthened its academic programmes after signing a Specific Partnership Agreement with the University of Bamenda (UBa).The agreement was signed on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the University of Bamenda campus in Bambili. The Founder of St. Mary's International College and University Institute, Paul Ateng, signed on behalf of the institution, while the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Professor Nkuo Akenji, signed for UBa.
The partnership comes at a time when many private higher institutions in Cameroon offer programmes that are not linked to a state university, making it difficult for some graduates to have their qualifications recognised. By partnering with the University of Bamenda, St. Mary's International College and University Institute aims to give its students recognised degrees and better academic opportunities.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, the Founder, Paul Ateng described the agreement as good news for both students and parents.
"We have now signed what is called the Specific Partnership Agreement after signing a Memorandum of Understanding some time ago. This confirms that St. Mary's University Institute is under the mentorship of the University of Bamenda and is authorised to train students and offer degree programmes. It gives parents and students confidence that this is a credible institution with a clear purpose,"Paul Ateng said.
He adds that the agreement reflects the high standards of the institution and its commitment to quality education.
"I am proud to say that what we offer at St. Mary's University Institute goes beyond what I have seen in many institutions across the country. When I founded St. Mary's, I wanted to bring to Cameroon the best practices I experienced while studying abroad and at home. We combine theory with practical training because we want our graduates to become job creators, not just job seekers."
As preparations continue for the new academic year, he encouraged parents and prospective students to take advantage of the programmes offered by the institution.
"St. Mary's University Institute has three specialised schools designed to meet today's job market. They are the School of Business and Applied Economics, the School of Engineering, and the School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences."
He explained that the School of Business and Applied Economics offers programmes in Accountancy, Marketing, Applied Economics, Banking and Finance, Business Management, and Project Management.
